Marc Sagal – Managing Partner

Combining an extensive background in psychology, philosophy and sport, Marc specializes in building successful teams and developing mental toughness.

From 1995-2001, Marc served as Chief Operating Officer for Enhanced Performance Systems Inc., a pioneer in the development and application of psychological assessment and training tools. In 2001, he helped found Winning Mind LLC, a high-performance consulting group dedicated to helping people improve their ability to perform under pressure.

Featured in numerous publications and media spots, including CIO magazine, Men’s Health, FOX Sports, and American Airlines’ Celebrated Living, Marc has delivered assessment, training and performance coaching to a wide variety of organizations. Hewlett Packard Consulting, Vans, J.P. Morgan, Liverpool Football Club and US Army Recruiting have all benefited from working with Marc Sagal and Winning Mind. Marc also consults regularly with Olympic and professional athletes from around the world. Much of his current work involves the application of the coaching model in business environments with special emphasis on leadership development.

Marc’s expertise extends beyond executive development and Sport Psychology. He has played a key role in the development and design of breakthrough training and assessment products and services, including the Athlete’s Competitive Edge (www.TAKEAME.com), the world’s first web-based, sport-psychological assessment and training program.

Marc has presented research data and professional papers at prestigious international congresses including the European Association of Personality Psychology and the American College of Sports Medicine. He has published widely in the area of performance psychology, co-authored the book Assessment in Sport Psychology with Dr. Robert Nideffer and recently authored a chapter for the Encyclopedia of Applied Psychology. Marc is curently an adjunct professor at San Diego State University.

A Phi Beta Kappa Philosophy graduate from The Colorado College, Marc received his Masters degree in Sport Psychology from San Diego State University with highest honors. He received his “A” level coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation, was registered as a professional with the USSF, and competed both in Europe and the United States.

Geoff Miller – Partner

Geoff Miller is responsible for development and management of sport programs and support for corporate training and teaming workshops at Winning Mind. The majority of his time is spent as the Mental Skills Coach for the Atlanta Braves organization. In this role, Geoff is involved with the Braves major league team, each of their minor league affiliates, and he conducts psychological evaluations of potential draft selections for the Scouting Department. Geoff has provided mental skills coaching services to two other Major League Baseball teams as well, spending 2005–2009 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and 2010 with the Washington Nationals. In addition to MLB clients, Geoff is a resource to player agents with clients in football and basketball and provides individual coaching to amateur athletes in Southern California.
Geoff helped found Winning Mind in 2001. He has consulted with such corporate clients as Fidelity, Putnam Investments, Chick-fil-A, and Colgate-Palmolive. He has lectured at national conferences of the American Baseball Coaches Association, National Fire Protection Agency, Golf Coaches Association of America, and the Gymnastics Association of Texas. He has led intensive academic skills training programs for NCAA football players, headed up golf psychology duties at the Okemo Valley Golf Academy in Ludlow, VT, and is currently developing a program to teach young athletes how to become role models in their communities.
Geoff co-authored a chapter on Assessment in Sport Psychology in the Encyclopedia of Applied Psychology. Geoff’s research includes the first scientific documentation of decision-making factors used by high school baseball players when faced with the choice of playing college or professional baseball.
He grew up in Riverside, CA, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Riverside. He earned a Master’s degree in Sport Psychology from San Diego State University.
